The Calm I Didn’t Know I Was Missing

I remember the exact moment I realised I was holding my breath.

Not dramatically — not in a panic — just… constantly slightly short of breath. The odd part? It wasn’t happening when I was in social settings, when distracted or rushing around. It was happening in the calm, quiet moments at home.


That’s when I realised I wasn’t calm. Not really. Not deep-down, body-level calm.


I’d been living in a kind of functional stress. On paper, everything looked fine. But my nervous system was stuck in survival mode. I realised what dysregulation looked like in everyday life — jaw clenching, shallow breath, zero tolerance for noise. And it wasn’t until I began creating daily rituals that my body started to believe me when I said, “We’re safe now.”


🌿 How I created my inner calm

One of the first things I did was to stop treating oils like a last resort. I started using them proactively, AND on the good days. The small but powerful habit of diffusing a blend of Lavender, Lemon, and Peppermint or StressAway & Copaiba became my breathing space in a bottle.




But the shift didn’t stop there.

I began to pair emotional release with nervous system regulation. That looked like:

– Dancing to let energy out of my body
